Im running a PNY Geforce FX 5900 Ultra. Has anyone upgraded from this to a 6800 Ultra and been dissapionted in the performance difference?? Or has there been huge boosts in performance in games like Doom3 and Far cry??

Im gonna buy either an XFX or PNY 6800 Ultra after my holidays, I just want to know if its worth the £400 or should i stick with what ive got for now?

Any info would be great!

Cheers :)

Upgrading from any previous generation card (FX Series/R 9xxx) would wield a HUGE performance boost. Really people, you don't have to ask, just look what everyones saying.

Same here. My fx5900u was running on a fx5950ultra bios @540/950. Still couldn't touch the performance of my 6800ultra@450/1.25..

I upgraded from a x800 pro to a 6800 gt!!! And let me tell you, theres a HUGE performance difference. I had my x800 pro oc'd and could hit 65fps in the Halo timedemo, with my 6800 gt @ stock I hit 73fps. UT2K4 runs at least 10fps faster ...with the x800 pro I was dipping into the mid 20's while playing onslaught @ 1600X1200 no aa/af, the 6800 gt runs onslaught at the same settings never going below 33fps. Painkiller runs about 5-15 fps faster depending on the level. Everything was boosted. I went from a 9800 pro to a x800 pro, wasnt happy with performance, sold it and went with the 6800 gt and havent looked back. You'll be very satisfied. Just make sure you do a freash install of the os.

I went from a 9800 Pro to a 6800 Ultra. Quite a big difference.

Wow, that is some great feedback, guys!

I am also eager to see just how much of a performance increase I will see going from my evga 5900U to an evga 6800U. It's on the Fedex truck, on it's way to me right now!!

Thanks guys, the info you gave was perfect. In a couple of weeks i'll have a 6800 Ultra in my case.

I'll probably stick with PNY coz ive never had any problems with my 5900 Ultra.

Many thanks :)

I'm GOING to go from a FX5950U to a 6800GT or Ultra, and looking forward to playing my favorite games at 1600x1200 at twice (or 4x for doom3) the fps.
