well, i was proud when my country entered the stadium. :D
and i also enjoyed seeing all the other nations parade in.
the Olympics, plagued by corruption, performance-enhancing drug abuse, and other scandals, still interests me, because, at it's heart, the idealism of the event still persists: peaceful competition of diverse and sometimes warring nations. if we let the athletes compete without the interference of politics, the games could serve the purpose i think they where meant to serve--a way to unify diverse peoples.
i'm looking forward to the Athens Olympics, the birthplace of Western culture, philosophy, art, science, and democracy, the originator of the Olympics. history, past and present, will be made in the Athens Gmes, and regardless of who wins gold or finishes last, i hope that the games are peaceful and the competition fair.
i was really impressed with the beauty of the Opening Ceremony. all of it, especially the history, Galaxy/DNA images, was really beautiful.
