Well I finally built my new system and bought it with a XFX6800GT and it died last night after only a week of use. I am going to send it back to newegg monday for a replacement. I really don't know what happened. One second I was playing Far Cry (just reinstalled it and the 1.2 patch last night) and decided to try 1600x1200 mode. Then boom the machine locks up. I reboot and the screen comes up but all corrupted (the VGA card info is unreadable). When the bios press del to enter setup comes up, it is also corrupted It is like every other line is corrupted. If I boot a DOS floppy the screen is also unreadable. It is as if the bios got corrupted somehow. Funny thing is I didn't even touch any of the OC options yet or messed with any of the default settings.

I went out and bought a 5200 card to keep using my new system while I wait for the 6800gt replacement.

Has something like this ever happen to anyone else? I mean the card is running but it can't display anything but garbage on the screen.

I've seen a few posts like this w xfx cards, I think they don't have proper cooling. It's not like xfx is renowned for high quality products =P
