mod a 6800gt to a quadro? possible?

will this be possible in the future? or are the quadro cards now totally different in design than geforce ards?

i would really like to get back at nvidia for the gloria III i bought back in the day for 800 bucks..

after finding out two months later it was only a geforce2 with a little line of code strung in...

and my stock also dropped a week ago by 50%....

I think nVidia has learned its lesson. Now it's probably some bond-out option or laser-fuse that can't be modded easily.

You don't think they make 2 different chips for the 6800 and Quadro FX 4400, do you?

There are Quadro bonding options as well as hardware straps. A simple BIOS flash won't do it.

I have a NV28 (GeForce4 Ti4800 SE) and a NV28GL (Quadro4 980XGL). The Quadro behaves quite differently than the GeForce, in benchmarks and in qualitative perfomance.

just tried installing my 6800gt on my workstation at work..
it wont even start up maya6 so no dice on that front. locks up when displaying the opengl main window.. menus load ok.. then it freezes.
ati's opengl may suck in games but at least they have gamer cards that can be used in a 3d app if render time hits the fan..

scratch all that..
i downloaded the newest forceware drivers, 6562win2k_xp_[Guru3D.com]
and put them on after a clean format.
this evga 6800gt runs maya like a sweet sweet dream.
MY ATI x1 256p at work doesnt even touch the opengl capabilities of this "game card at not anywhere near the price.. i havent tried dual monitors with it yet but i am blown away by the performance.. i am able to use artisian, painteffects and all aother overlay plane heavy tools. No ghosting or leaving the red behind on the surface of an object.. nuts!
