Asus A8V Deluxe (http://usa.asus.com/products/mb/socket939/a8v-d/overview.htm) I already have this.

Athlon 64 3800+ (http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProductDesc.asp?description=19-103-465&depa=0) The performance difference between this and the FX are very small. This is the better chip for the money.

512MBx2 DDR PC3200 • CL=2 • Non-parity • DDR400 (http://www.crucial.com/ballistix/store/MPartspecs.Asp?mtbpoid=D53F57E0A5CA7304&WSMD=A8V+Deluxe&WSPN=BL6464Z402)

WD Raptor 74GB SATA 10,000rpm 8M (http://www.infotechnow.com/shopping/shopexd.asp?id=1868)

BFG 6800U (http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?id=1083712380517&skuId=6684643&type=product)

Pioneer DL DVD+RW/-RW (http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProductDesc.asp?description=27-129-157&depa=0)

Thanks for the tip on the burner Gib.

BTW HL2 IS the best game to ever have been thought up or never thought up. It will surpass all expectations by orgasmic perportions. I hope...

nice setup... :)

what psu are you running?

if it doesn't have legs consider getting one that will be able to handle all your components easily :)

I have never seen any reason for a gamer to have a raid set up. So I will only buy one Raptor. You can look all over the net at all sorts of test rresults and the gains you get do not justify another HDD. That is my opinion.

I haven't decided on a PSU yet Saz. Some where in the $60 range though and at least 450watts. I'll prolly get a Enermax, TT or one of the better ones. It just depends on price. Oh and I am going to get a cheap budget case for the time being. I am not concerned with the looks of my puter only the performance.

get a GOOD psu udawg...

the one drawback of the a64's is that they need a hearty 12v rail amperage to keep chugging along happily... I think i've said that about a million times already lol... 18A is min but look for something in the mid 20's range...

the case shouldn't matter much so long as you get rid of the hot air somehow (even a custom mod with a vacuum cleaner @ the back should do  ) but definitely get rid of the air inside..

Udawg - do yourself a favor and grab a Fortron 530 Waat PSU. They are absolutely top notch and very reasonably priced. Mine is running my A64-3500 @ 2600mhz and my 6800 GT at 460/1200 all day long :)

Thanks for the tip Warden.

Saz I plan on getting a good PSU. I just don't think you need to pay a high price for one. The really high price PSU are over priced. Puter part companies are getting into the modding look and there fore are raising their prices for a pretty lookin part. I don't want a window so I don't care what it looks like. It can look like poo on a hot day and I will be happy. :D

I didn't pay a high-price for mine :)

you dont need to... I just want you to make sure you get a solid 12v rail :D

my psu == ttgi (replacing my old antec) and is a 450W (520 peak), 12+ == 27a psu... solid enough for me for now...

total cost for me == $50 :D

Ya that is what I think Saz. I don't get why people pay $120 for a PSU.

Don't think thats gonna work man, there's one major bottleneck....the guy behind the keyboard. Don't think he'll be able to keep up with the other components!

btw, I echo the sentiments expressed by the other a64 owners, a solid psu now will avoid major probs in the future. Good choice on the burner btw, only thing keeping most away from D/L burners is the availible/price of media. Congrats homey
