not so much a complaint, but a question... ever since i've been at nvnews. the host has been less than perfect. i was just curious... is it the board, the hosts uptime, the hosts bandwidth? maybe the processor usage is just too high. i don't know anything about that, but i know that this host (esp. recently) has like 90% uptime at best, lol. most hosts have a 99.99% uptime gaurantee.
anyway, just curious what was going on if you knew... not to be a whiney bitch, cuz i know nvn is free :P but i would think that the advertisments would cover a worth-while host atleast.

AFAIK, the current problem has something to do with the server, which is why the forums are sloooooooooooooooooooooooooooow. I think Mike is trying to fix it as we speak. (mag)

maybe you should temporarily suspend the search feature until you find the problem, as that generally takes the most CPU on boards (not that you can actually find anything with that pos =\)

"never" ? :confused: You've been registered here for 10 months and during that time we had some intermittent issues surrounding the server upgrade process for a few weeks. However, I think "never" is a bit of a broad brush. :D

I'm just saying that statement simply isn't true. I could rattle off many, many websites that are consistently slow loading/riddled with popups or popons/etc... nV News is a very fast loading site much more often than not.

Prior to the currrent host, for example, nV News had an uptime of over 340 consecutive days. ;)

While I know sod all about mysql, I will try and get my server guy on the case for you.

Will the server issues actually get resolved? :) Yeah, it's been a bear for awhile.
:lol: Before long I reacon saz will end up getting these 2 user communities merged together or something :D
Oh, and speaking of slow, my father only has a 28.8 Kbps modem on his comp. Now that does bring back memories from many, many years ago ;)

We feel your pain, Mike has called on the help of a resident MySQL expert to take a look at the vB database. Rest assured we're doing our best to get it resolved ;)

the good news is NVN is usable and reasonably speedy @ the moment with a coupla hacks turned off
might I suggest turning off the quick reply as well mike :) and see if that helps out any...

BTW (and rather OT), I had a little chore getting to the air port, and they had a bit of trouble with the luggage at this end; but I made it here OK...
