Oh god thats nice :drooling:

But whats with the "laser tracking" thing? I didnt know there was any new mousing technology coming out... I thought optical was as good as it could get :p

Do you think this just gives a much finer DPI?

The specs on the preorder site says its rated @ 800dpi.

I like my mx310, cause its smaller... Wish they made the 510 in the 310's size..

08-18-04, 10:39 PM
another bloated mouse.

08-19-04, 12:15 AM
Well the stats seem bad ass enough but I dont know if I would drop my mx510 for that. Ya the laser tracking and 800 dpi is great but RF wireless for gaming???? I mean come on unless they fixed the issues the mx700 had I wouldnt go wireless for gaming at least not yet. USB still owns for gaming. I tried the game mx700 when it came out for kicks and as I suspected it wasnt the same as the 510 I have. Thats my 2 cents.

08-19-04, 12:19 AM
laser=light amplification by stimulated emission of radiation

so maybe teh mx700 and mx 500 already has laser thingymejiggy???

I just have a basic Pilot Optical mouse.

My other half has a smller Pilot Optical mouse.

I love Logitech equipment, but would never use a bigger mouse with more buttons on it then I already own. I would simply never use them.

I agree with Slyder. I only need the 2 buttons and the wheel (which you can click down still anyway).

The ONLY feature that I'm seeing that would make me want to get this that it's rechargable.

For twitch style fps's the mx700 has so lag. What I mean is theres a slight delay when make very fast movements because its wireless. Now the mx700 is the best one to date as far as lag is concerned howevere its stil present. Just try playing a little Q3 with the mx700 then try it with a mx510 and you tell me what the difference is. Its very apparent to me.

08-19-04, 12:49 PM
I shall only switch when both my Boomslang 1000 AND Intellimouse die... they're plenty good mice for me as long as I use a good mousing surface and use teflon mouse feet...

But that MX1000... heh, that's prolly my next mouse after these two...

And re: the extra buttons, I find them useful for Ventrilo/Teamspeak, and web page navigation...

08-19-04, 12:50 PM
MX310 still r00lz.
still 800dpi
6 buttons,
and wired(no lag).

08-19-04, 01:00 PM
I went from an MX700 to a 510 and I play lots of FPS... Never noticed a difference or any lag myself. I play lots of UT2K4.

Only place I ever saw lag was actually in Windows. If I left the mouse sitting there for a while and then attempted to move it there was a slight pause before it responded. But it only did that if I left it sitting there for a while.

MX700 -> MX900 :wtf:
MX900 -> MX510 :bugeyes: :cool:
MX510 -> MX1000 :confused:

Just a side note, Logitech is really marketing this mouse towards current MX700 owners. The successor the MX510 is still in development & should be released sometime after this one hits the market. It will mostly likely come with the new super-duperâ„¢ Laser technology as well :D

So whatz the difference in "Laser" technology and optical? This sounds worse that some of the GFX marketing babble. :bleh:

08-19-04, 03:39 PM
I know a lot of people that call optical mice "laser mice" :|

Ya because the red LED on the bottom emits a long range focused beam :|

mebbe when a thief enters your home with a gun, you can grab your mouse and point to him, then shout "LAZER POWAH!!!1!1!1!"

that thief turned into a frog.
