So fellow unreal gamer have you tested it yet? Curious to see if it actually perfs on par w/ its 32bit counterpart this time around. btw, speaking of UnreaL it just dawned on me, what the fook happened to the 64-bit version of UT that was supposed to released  May have to hit up the INA forums in a bit.

I wonder if the 64bit version of XP will be finalized before longhorn comes out.

Longhorn is a new core. It uses WinFS.

WinXP 64 is the XP core with 64 bit extensions. It uses NTFS.

HUGE technology differance there.

Oh I'm just excited to see a new XP64 came out, doesn't mean I'm willing to try it myself

can I set up a paritition with 32 bit windows on one and this 64-bit on the other? Will it let me do that with the 64 bit beta?

Yes.

It installs just like any other version of WindowsXP. It uses the NTFS file system.

Where would be a good place to get drivers other than nForce/Forceware? I want to know if my Linksys 802.11 card and Audigy 2 ZS have support for this OS. I'd really like to play around with it. :D

And Juice - you find out anything about the 64-bit UT?

AMD64 Device Driver Support (http://www.amd.com/us-en/Processors/DevelopWithAMD/0,,30_2252_875_10454,00.html)

All Audigy devices have beta drivers from Creative. They work A-OK for me on my Audigy Gamer.

Dang. No Linksys devices supported at all. :(

Thanks for the link, though.

Actually, from what I have heard, WinFS isn't coming along as nicely as they had thought/hoped and Longhorn may actually be NTFS.

Maybe that's changed since I heard it, but as far as I know, that's where it stands. The machine that we have here in the office on Longhorn (don't ask) is NTFS. There was no option for WinFS.

The big question is how is the driver situation? Until those get sorted out, the perf will tend to be sub-par of, of course...

How much of a push do you think driver support is likely to get once Intel finally releases 64bit CPUs into the mainstream?

No.

I used the one I got from build 1069 and it worked. As for my install......that's another story.

Windows XP 64 Bit is not going to be a boxed retail offering from Microsoft. It will be available to OEM's and for site-licensing as server/workstations.

I honestly doubt that 64 bit driver support will go very far at all.

Where could I get a CD key for this then? I don't have build 1069.

I don't think it's a violation of forum rules because this is technically freeware. But I will send a PM in a bit. ;)

Wow, so this thing is going to be pretty much just a toy for how long then?

Honestly? It will remain a toy until Intel releases a competitive desktop consumer solution to AMD's Ath64. So at least 12-18 months. That's my guess.

As good as AMD is, Intel is still the market leader then.
