What are the main differences between the 1000 and 1100 and when do you think the pci x cards will decrease in value.
Also, I mostly intend to be using Maya in Linux, which Version of Linux is best for Maya and do these workstation cards run games as good as their domestic counterparts as I do enjoy to play games now and again. Any response is appreciated :)

Ok, let's start from your second question, that is, what distro to use.
If you're gonna use Maya, or any other commercial software under linux, I'd suggest you to either use :
1) RedHat Enterprise
2) Suse
3) Mandrake
not because anyone of these is "better" than any other distro out there, but only because commercial software vendors usually test (and frequently support) their software only on these three distros (and quite frequently only on the first two).
Keep in mind than since Alias only support RH9 and RHE-WS 3.0, it is possible that their installer expects to find the rh fs structure, and since suse puts some things (e.g., configuration files) under different dirs than rh, it is possible that you can't install Maya under Suse.
Regarding your third question, yes, these cards can play games almost with the same perfomance of their consumer counterparts.
Now, with regard to your first question (the clock figures are based on the PNY cards) :
- Quadro 1000: Based on the NV30GL chip, clocked at 300/300 MHz, mem bandwidth 9.6 GB/s
- Quadro 1100: Based on the NV36GL chip, clocked at 425/313 MHz, mem bandwidth 10 GB/s, revised shader units, real world performance higher 0-10% than that of Quadro 1000, but at a lower price point
- Quadro 1300: Based on the NV38GL chip, clocked at 350/225 MHz, mem bandwitdh 14.4 GB/s, PCI-E (bridged solution), real world performance higher 0-15% than that of Quadro 1100, at almost the same price point.
So, if you're still on agp, I'd suggest a 1100, otherwise, go for the 1300.

quadro FX1000 works fine to me :)
^Erik ! ....and a Geforce 6800GT does about as good at half or one third
of the price of either of those Quadro's :ORDER:
