I'm sure that Brian would agree that what he said should clearly go without saying in the first place. I'm confident that most people realize this. As one example, Hanners over at EB made the following statement in his conclusion illustrating this.
Well, honestly, I am a bit disappointed that it isn't being mentioned more prominently. We already have people with the VST and leaked detonators reporting a significant improvement in performance. There may be another delay, there may be another three driver releases, there may be abug squashed, there may be an SM3.0 patch, etc.
Sit back and relax. It is what it is right now and no amount flamebait trolling one way or another will prevent a 6800 series card from running HL2 at very respectable resolutions when it is finally released.
Time to play some Doom3 (taking my time).
