i am working on a bios for my 6800nu. i have heard people saying that opening up the other 4 pipes will cuase un-fixable harm to my card. how is that posssible? i'm not trying to be rude about it, i just dont understand that particular detail. my card was a 6800le and i flashed it to a 6800nu (8 pipes to 12). and everything worked fine.

Didn't we explain this already? If you unlock other pipelines on your card and you get artifacts, there is no way you can go back and "re-lock" them to get your card back. Though it might not necessarily happen and you may indeed be successful, it is extremely unlikely that this will be the case.

Edit: I thought we had explained it.

But isn't that totaly unlogical? If you unlock a quad you usually can lock it again. Only difficulty is to find out how to lock it again.
I can unlock the quad and lock it again as long i want on my x800 PRO VIVO.
It's all about the biosflash tool. They had to modify ATIs flashrom to be able to write over the pipeline info.

Unwinder is working on a 6800nu to GT softmod. I think it would be wise to wait for it to appear so you can test the pipelines before you make permanent changes.
