I hope u realize the pre-load isnt the actual game....just files that wont change. Nice to see it's begun....finally. Now only 16 more months for the rest of it to get out. :clap:

Its on my Steam List now, however their servers are 'to busy'

I have a feeling next month hl2 will be avalible :D

I finished downloading it. Its about a gig....and yes, it's free to download. You'll have to pay for it once the rest of the files are up though. ( In 2016) (Im staying a skeptic till I see a gold announcement)

Pre-load means...

" our pos network steam cant handle the traffic, so were gonna push out all the unchangable, useless files now, so when we decided to finally finish the game, steam wont be swarmed with people downloading 3 gigs and taking up all the space since were too lazy and too cheap to up the bandwith."

Actually the download is available to anyone who wants it. Those who have the HL2 coupon just wont need to purchase it, those without a coupon can still download it, but will need to use a credit card to activate the game when it's done.

Well I just tried it, and it's started to download now. :)

My download finished and it says that I now have a locked copy of HL2 on my system!

I left Steam open, but (like always) you have to restart it for new updates...

The preload will allow users who go out and buy the game to put in their CD key and "install the game faster by downloading the non-preload files through Steam". lol, they think it's faster than a CD-ROM drive, apparently.

Seems Steam is a waste of time if it can't handle people getting the damn game.
