View Full Version : Far Cry texture corruption?

I want to preface this by saying my Hewlett Packard PC is NOT overclocked, everything is running at default speed...for now.

Anyway...I have the latest leaked nVidia 66.00 drivers for my GeForce 6800GT installed. I have Windows SP2 installed, as well as DX 9.0c and my system is an AMD Athlon 64 3200+ ASUS mobo. Every other game runs fine graphically, including DOOM3, UT2K4, Call of Duty, Ground Control II, etc.

I have everything set to High in the Far Cry Advanced video settings, and my nVidia display properties is set to "application controlled".

Here is my problem (click on image for original size):

If I use the 56.72 drivers from April 1, 2003 then everything works normally. I get this strange texture corruption even using the latest nVidia 61.77 drivers. So this is definitely 'game-specific' IMO.

What should I do, uninstall the game and give up!? I'm at my wits end. And I don't want to go all the way back to 56.72 drivers from April. *UGH*

Do you have at least the 1.1 patch for the game? I do not find any mention of that anywhere.

I get similar textures corruptions with Patch 1.1 & 1.2 .
patch 1.2 fixed some for me but projected a new ones .

have you tried setting the shadow quality to medium ??

Didn't realize there was even a patch, DOH!

Welp, after installing 1.1 Far Cry patch here's my result:

I also found a Far Cry patch 1.2, should I just leave well enough alone? This patch was recalled if I read correctly.

Me thinks I should be grateful and just leave things the way they are... PERFECT.

Thx Arioch.

I had the exact problem and thought that my videocard is defective. But I sent it in for RMA anyway because that it's slow.
