View Full Version : Belgian Grand Prix
ah, The Belgian Grand Prix at Spa Francorchamps. one of my favourite courses. hmm, i wonder who'll win this weekend? Schumie, of course, has positioned himself for another victory. since Ferrari has already won the championship, and Schumie has all but won the driver's title, everyone is fighting for second place, waiting for next year, looking for a job, trying to score with the ladies .... and of course earning lots of money.
Kimi first in practice, the best driver in F1 second, followed by the nearly unbeatable Schumie. the BARs have done well in practice, but whether they can do so when it matters is another thing entirely. the same can be said of Kimi, ye who cannot finish what he starts. Montoya in 10th, out-qualified by his team mate of the week, Pizzonia. Toyotas in 14-15: what a waste of $$. still, Spa may be the great equalizer, since it is a tough race on cars, with unpredicatble weather.

and, the circus that is BAR continues. if lawyers get involved, this will get messy, and drawn out, since the only sound lawyers like better than their own voices is the sound a person makes when he receives the bill (kind of a gurgling, muttering sound, followed by a loud thud as the person collapses). http://www.tsn.ca/auto_racing/formula_one/news_story.asp?ID=96547&hubName=auto_racing-formula_one
JV back to BAR? stranger things have happened. i'd still rather see him at BMW. http://www.tsn.ca/auto_racing/formula_one/news_Story.asp?ID=95432
or Bernoldi? http://www.tsn.ca/auto_racing/formula_one/news_Story.asp?ID=96222
or DC? who knows, who cares? http://www.tsn.ca/auto_racing/formula_one/news_Story.asp?ID=96477
ahh, water on (part of) the track at Spa. this should make qualy interesting. :D

Trulli grabs pole...
http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport2/hi/motorsport/formula_one/3607322.stm
Thats a suprise....considering Renealt aren't well known for their engines to be powerhouses....
OK...I just read the link meself :) conditions was the key :D
well, seeing as how Renault uses Ferrari engines, it isn't quite a surprise that Trulli got the pole. still, Schumi is in a perfect position for yet another victory, but he was deprived of another pole position (he only needs 5 or 6 more to beat Senna's record of 65). apparently, it's supposed to be sunny for the race, but given the nature of Spa, there may be rain on one section, sun on another, etc. since it's such a long course.
very pathetic performance for the BARs and BMWs, and Kimi in the McLaren (outqualied by DC). but that was probably due to the rain. there are a lot of fast cars in the back of the grid which should mean that there will be many attempts to pass during the race, not to mention trying to jump ahead at the start.

damn WORKopps, sorry. it's actually Sauber that uses an engine supplied by Ferrari, not Renault (when i wrote that i wasn't 100% certain, so i did a serach afterwards). kinda makes my previous post re why Trulli was successful meaningless. my bad. :D

(wack)
Yeah i thought so...even when I replied..(i was drunk but..erm) anyway, Renault are a car manufacturer and I really had a hard time thinking why Renault would get engines from another manufacturer? in fact renault's engine design is radical from the others in that it has a lower profile some sort of angling the cylinders in a v shape (? i think) and hence that makes the chassis design over it produce less drag...ie it's not much of a hump as others.

wow. what a racing incident, 4 cars out, Schumi getting passed by virtually everyone on the restart. fun. :D
well Raikonen won...had a feeling Schumaker eased out knowing he only needed to finish 2nd.
hmm makes a change though
wow, that was an event filled race. not only was there a lot of racing incidents, but also a lot of passing (a novel concept in F1 indeed, but one that is entertaining). Spa sures beats the Hungarian GP any day (that course must be one of the most boring tracks in F1). why don't they drop that one from the season?
Button's crash was kinda startling: shredded tire, smash into car next to him, out of the race. he's still the best driver in F1 (never to win a race). there was a lot of carbon fibre from all the crashes, resulting in lots of blown tires. DC smashing into the rear of Klien right near the end of the race, and still managing to finish 7th after a pit stop and nose change has to be one of the best (or luckiest) moves of the day. no BMWs finishing, again, and yet another blown up Toyota.
it's good to see Kimi win, since it gives hope, however little it may be, that someone can compete against the dominant Ferrari team (the results may have more to do with Spa and all the crashes, but Kimi still had a great drive and found the speed when he needed to). but Schumi and Barrichello were 2nd and 3rd, still prominent in the end. Schumi is champ yet again. congrats to him.
with four races left, and the driver's and constructor's titles already won by Schumi/Ferrari, everyone will be racing for next year, or racing for a job. next up, the Italian GP, followed by another new course, Shanghai International Circuit in China, which will be interesting to see. :D
