manchester may be a contender with their budget... but the magpie's have shearer and I dunn if that will play into rooney's mind..

would be nice to see liverpool drop their hat in the ring as well given rooney's relationship with gerrard...

Hiopefully we wil use this as a smokescreen to launch a bid for Ronaldinhio :D

Signed him about 2 hours ago! £27 million in total depending on appearances. £10 million now, £10 million in 1 year and another £7 million depending on Champions League performance and stuff...

:nanahump:

Can't wait to see him play in a United shirt! He's taken Nicky Butt's No.8 shirt. He's a class act and the best player I've seen in English footy since Gazza (I'm only 19). It's a lot of money but to be honest Muya, I'd rather him than Ronaldinho. Not that I would mind both! :angel2:

What a waist of £27 mil.ManU will get more value for money from Smith than Rooney "I had your gran in rubber".C'mon, we all know is for them to sell a few more shirts this year.

You really think so? Tell me, if you were to go around Europe and tell them United's frontmen were van Nistelrooy and Simth/Saha, what would they think? Now if you were to tell them that United's frontmen are van Nistelrooy and Rooney with Smith and Saha as squad players, what would they think?

I know what my opinion is... van Nistelrooy and Rooney would probably be the most feared strikeforce in the Premiership and probably in the whole of Europe (Madrid and Arsenal perhaps to challenge. I don't rate Chelsea's stikers so much, though they are a great team).

He's a class act and as long as he can perform as well for ManU as England, then he will surely be a huge hit.

As for value, yes I agree Smith is a much much better deal, but I wouldn't bet on Smith getting Golden Boot for the season, but I would for Rooney. Yeah, you can say that he never was great for Everton but just take a look at Everton's side. They're poor. Very poor. If it wasn't for this money I wouldn't be surprised if they were relegated in the next few seasons. Most of the sides in the Premiership have overtaken them in terms of squad strength and ability.

Plus the board and Moyes are clueless. They were trying hard to keep a player who was refusing to sign a new contract, despite the fact they were in debt and he would leave at the end of the season anyway for a cut-down price (I estimate about half what United paid today). That was stupid. If a player says he wants to leave. He has to leave. There is no point in forcing him to play for you. Just look at Becks and the meager amount of money we got for him.

For that much I wish we had signed eitehr of these two...preferably the buck tothed brazilian

I agree, Man U have good striking options already, what they need is a midfield and a defence :p

Signing Rooney sounds like a desperate act for Man U if you ask me, 5 points out of a total of 12 that is just lame.

Can you picture the scene? Rooney is late for training and Fergie finds him in a local brothel humping a 50 year old tart! :nanahump:
