View Full Version : Question about detecting optimal frequencies on a PNY 6800 GT.

I downloaded and ran the coolbits reg and when I try to hit the detect optimal frequencies it notes something along the lines that this feature is disabled because the graphics card doesn't support it in its currect context..
Is this so for PNY cards or what am I doing wrong? Thanks in advance..

Hmmmm! I have the PNY 6800 Ultra, but have not tried it yet. I figure the card already kicks ass so why bother. I can tell you that the PNY FX5950 Ultra had no problem detecting the optimal freqs. That is my other card and it worked fine for me. So I guess it is not a PNY issue!
This won't be particularly helpful, but autodetect works for me. (It's a bit flaky, as it resets the refresh rate in 2D to 60 Hz, but it runs.)
PNY 6800GT, BIOS 5.40.02.15.01. (I've since flashed it to 5.40.02.15.02, without significant changes.)
Can you adjust the frequencies manually? (The checkbox must be checked.)

I don't trust that myself I would rather do it my self and up the clocks slowly, that way I don't have to worrie if it comes back with some high setting that you know want work.
