Team Canada just squashed the Slovak's 5-1 in the World Cup (of Hockey for all you unedumukated foo's). We beat the Yanks 2-1 yesterday also. At this point, unless Russia wins all three of their games, we take it. :)

The Alexei Kovalev goal was ****ING CRAZY!!! Best goal I've seen in a long time... Too bad so many awesome Russian players opted out off this tournament because of their anger towards the Russian Hockey Federation. I hate that soo much, they should be playing no matter what, to represent their country with pride and because (as they should) play hockey because they "love" the game soo much..

In another news, Saturday's game of Russia vs Canada should be wicked!!

I am going to cheer for Russia, the underdog team, cuz Canada seems to boast a little too much about owning the sport of hockey! I mean I have a Canadian citizenship now, but when I first came to Canada (from Ukraine/formerly part of USSR) I hated how everybody said that hockey is OUR sport in Canada. I think it's pretty much the only sport they are good at and because of that if they lose any tournament I laugh at those who say it's THEIR sport! Stupid...

Remember Canada, Australia is smaller than you, yet they got 4 times the medals in the Olympics. No more whining, just say that you are not good :rolleyes:

I admit we suck at the olympics. BUT, are you aware that our athletes are so underfunded that some of the COACHES of the athletes that won gold couldn't even afford to go to Greece and be at the olympics? It's stupid, our Government flew themselves and all of their friends over spending tons of tax money to party it up and look good at the Olympics yet our FREAKING ATHLETES couldn't afford to go? WTF? Gotta love the Canadian Government. :lame:

i am so uninterested in the WC. it's a farce, because on the 15th, the nhl will lock out it's players and there will be no hockey this winter. the WC is just one last chance to fleece the fans, overcharging them for tickets to a glorified exhibition series. why? because billionaire owners can't agree with millionaire players how to divvy up the dollar so everyone is happy. i hope Canada wins, but i won't be watching, not when there's US Open tennis on, or golf, or ironman competition, or anyhting that isn't the WC.
