lost in the hoopla of the olympics pre-ordained stars such as michael phelps, the "dream team", the sprinters and the like was the american boxing team...

lately they are not expected to go out there are perform quite at the levels they did once not too long ago but yet they still train and they still take the hits for their nation and the glory of representing her in competition against other nations...

unfortunately for the american boxing team not much went right in athens but Andre Ward did not falter... he did not give up even when he was down in the final of his contest for the gold medal in the first 2 rounds... he came back and restored some semblance of respect to a sport that has not garnered as much respect as it really should amongst television viewers in america..

Andre Ward with his gold medal and Andre Dirrell with his bronze deserve as much recognition as some of the stars of the more popular events at the olympics...

congratulations lads... here's to hoping for good things in Beijing...

Yup olympics was good this year i enjoyed it.

Ive never watched olympic boxing before but after watching it this year it has to be the most 'sporting' boxing ive seen. The whole points system and the object not being to absolutely knock out the opposition make it a little more sports like to me.
