As subject really.

What are currently the best drivers and WHY, also proof would be nice.

Currently using the 61.77's coz they are *official*.

Probably 65.73 WHQL. At least people here have liked them quite a lot.

65.73's for me, faster than 61.77's in OpenGL and Far Cry, and ever so slightly better image quality than the 66.00's.

Another vote for 65.73's ....the 66.00's are slightly faster, but they have lower i.q issues. For the best i.q and speed, 65.73's seem to be the set to have right now. If you dont mind lower i.q and want a bit more speed, 66.00's are what your looking for.

I'm using the 65.73's myself.

65.73's. I have been able to run my card at 560/1.02 with these and no problems in any games. Very good set.

65.73 WHQL.

Current drivers above this version have a Digital Vibrance bug. I must have my digital vibrance ;)

Thanks for mentioning that. I had to lower my overclock in MOHPA by 5mhz for it to run without glitches with the 61.77s but with the 65.73s I can use my normal overclock and things are fine.

Curious - why are their so many "WHQL" 65.xx drivers?

There isn't. The only 65.xx driver that is WHQL is currently the 65.73. All the others (that we can get ahold of) have not been certified by Microsoft.

How well dows these drivers work with doom 3 and UT2k4 on exiting game?

And will these be official on Nviida's site:

66.00's been great for me (the only UT2k4 crash I get on exit is when I'm using benchemall, exiting after benching Convoy), and IMO the IQ hub-bub has only pointed to me that 66.00's IQ is just fine and not diminished in any way... I forgot who it was, but someone posted some 66.00 screenshots vs. another driver, and 66.00 looked sharper to me, AND the performance was a bit better than other drivers...

I'm now running at 560/1.03. Still no problems. Smooth as silk!
