My second computer:

Xp Home
P4 2.0GHz
1024mb ram
ATI 9500 pro 128mb

won't go into hibernation mode. When I go to start then shut down, and then I hold down the shift key and click hibernate, it goes to that blue screen and it says preparing to hibernate then it goes right back to my desktop. I can still shut down, standby, and restart fine. Will someone please tell me how to fix this. Oh yeah, it used to hibernate just fine a few months ago, this problem is more recent.

There are loads of potential causes for that. It could be newly added hardware, USB devices, hardware drivers or even a problem with your installation of Windows itself. Try removing all USB devices and see if that helps.

Also try turning off hybernation, deleting hyperfil.sys, restarting your computer, enabling hybernation....

It might be worth remembering that you need at least as much free hard drive space as you have RAM.
