Did you try it and if so, is it a Rallisport Challenge replacement? Hopefully I'll give the official one a shot tonight. The only complaint I had about the leaked one was the performance was sometimes lacking. Maybe that has been fixed. I guess I'll find out tonight sometime.

WOW!!!! Its awesome. If your into racers period its a must and even if your not you will like it. Nothing like the other rally games and I have never wanted to buy one until now. And the graphics engine is insane, they went all out even the water looks better than most games. I will be getting this game and if I was to go by the demo and the three maps I would say classic.

OMFG THIS GAME IS AWESOME!!!!!!!!! I absolutely love it! Best graphics I have ever seen in a racing game thus far, even surpassing RallySport Challange(which is definetely hard to beat)

Wow, surprisingly fun for a rally game!

I dont play many racing games, and ive always hated rally games(too fast, monotonous, drawn out, and no other cars) but this is fun! And the graphics are amazing. If you stop and look at things closely they arent mind blowing but unlike many games, this one looks nearly photo-realistic when driving.

Very nice

BTW, I was playing at 1600x1200 2xAA 8xAF with all settings maxed and it ran great the whole time. Only one map slowed down to where I noticed it in some places (its the one with water). Other than that, the only performance problem I had was when plowing through a lot (15 or more) of the ribbon fence posts, the framerate would drop to a crawl... though i had the special physics thing turned on that makes these move realisticly, so its probably just a fluke in the physics engine.

I'll try this out after they finally kill off the WoW stress test. I hope it works in 3-D!

Though I'm not much into rally games as I think they're kind of boring, I'm always willing to try out something new especially if it's something that can show off the power of my hardware. I'll give this a shot tonight.

Those screens look incredible! :drooling: Almost forgot I was looking at a racing game :D Definitely checking this one out. How are the controls? Will kb+mouse be sufficient or is a joystick or wheel a must?

You'll always want to at least have a game pad when playing dedicated racing games. My original Sidewinder Game Pad has yet to let me down in this regard. :D

I think they added some more effects over the leaked demo (although maybe I never rolled my car before so I just didn't see this). Anyway, I rolled my car and not too long after that the engine started smoking and eventually the engine died. The smoke was so bad I had to change to the external view to even see where I was going. Pretty cool. :)

Edit: In an earlier thread on XP a few of us wondered what the driver figure was for. It looks like it might indicate damage to the driver? After rolling my car the figure changed colors as you can see in the screenshots. Anyone know for sure?

yes.. it is damage to the driver, if you turn your driver completely red, you get injured. Once you are injured the race is over. Its kinda cool because as you get more damage to the driver, your screen becomes more blurry

Wow! Running through the demo stages was a treat. This is a beautifully rendered sim/game and fluid frame rates coupled with a very good sense of control made this worth downloading. I will have to run the stages again with my Sidewinder pad. I think gamepad twitchiness will fit right in. The long throws of my joystick make me feel my input responses were slowed a bit, but I will miss force feedback. Sure can feel the road!

Now, if I could just find an online store accepting pre-orders! :)

Although graphics looks good in XP , i didnt enjoy it as much as i enjoyed CMR'05 demo .
the sounds/controls/overall gameplay in CMR05 are better IMO .

Why does not the weather change ? its kinda lame that you "CAN" decide weather, should change in game as you race..

I'm pretty much the opposite on that one. I've never liked the CMR series although I can't quite put my finger on why. It just doesn't "feel" right. So, I've mainly played Rallisport Challenge when wanting to play a rally sport game but I don't think that will last for long. I think XP will finally replace Rallisport Challenge but of course I'll have to get the full game first to be sure. Just hope they release the game in the US to make it eaiser to purchase.

I agree with OWA... I just never liked the CMR series... graphics, sounds, and physics I just don't like

CMR just seems to be more fun for me. XP looks more real but for me CMR seems to feel more real.

don't like the whole fuzzy thing when crashing also. makes me feel a bit nauseous.

The graphics were good, but i couldn't get into it... I'm also not really a rally fan, and enjoy roadcourse racing with other cars (EA's F1C 99-02), so I'm a bit biased..

I'll be waiting for the rForce engine instead for roadcourse racing.. (same guys that did EA sports racing games, including F1C 99-02)
