RHL 8.0 + nForce (nvnet)

Hi

I got sound and X working in RHL 8.0, but of course no network w/o compiling the nvnet driver into the kernel.

Tried to rebuid NVIDIA_nforce-1.0-0241.src.rpm, w/ the error as follows :

I'm pretty sure it has to do w/ some packages need installed first.

Shouldn't you be using a newer version of the Nforce drivers?

I didnt know they had a new driver.

D/loaded it and all is working ok now.

Did you have to do anything special to get sound working? I installed the newest nforce driver from nvidia, and nvnet and such work fine, but no sound, even though RH8 seems to find an i810 audio device...

I find that the drivers I got from alsa work a ton better (and have support for more software).

You can get 'em at:
http://alsa.sourceforge.net

If you have an nForce2, they require some tweaking...

make sure you have your kernel-sources installed. It should be in the 2nd CD of the Redhat set. You can install it from there if you don't already have it.

Try sndconfig --noprobe and choose intel ac97 from the list.
