Well, hence my 9700pro canīt play doom3 right (constant vpu-recovery + artifacting) iīm on the look-out for a new card. The gforce 6 series seems to be a very good deal, but they are kinda hard to get hold of here in sweden, and quite expensive :)

My first plan was to buy a 6600nu, play through doom3 and then sell it to my brother or something. But as i undrestand they will be only pci-e :(
Will the 6800LE give a big boost in performance compared to my 9700pro?
Specs:
2500+
512mb ddr@333Mhz

Canīt afford the 6800nu/gt/ultra.

My 9800 Pro plays Doom 3 fine. Might be something else crashing your game.

As far as your question... 6800LE is about the same as a 6600GT... and that's supposed to be a little faster than a 9800XT. So I'd guess that's a decent jump for you. The question is... can you BUY a 6800LE? They are supposidly OEM only. Dunno if there are any On-line places selling them, even though Online places sell OEM parts.

Naa something isnīt up with my system, just take a look at rage3d. There are many 9700pro users that have the same problems as me. Something with the drivers/bad core on card.

Gainward has a 6800LE, and it shows as in stock at some online dealers.

The original poster is correct, many ATI cards have hardware difficulties with Doom3, crashing or having white dots on the screen, and must be underclocked to remedy this. Apparently some ATI GPUs were cut a bit close in terms of yield.

To the original poster, the 6600LE will be about 20-30% faster than your 9700PRO in general, and probably twice as fast in Doom3. However it may be very difficult to find. You might want to spring an extra $75 and go with the easier to find 6800NU (http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProductDesc.asp?description=14-130-202&depa=0) ($270-299), which is 12x1 and will give you a huge boost over your 9700PRO.

Uhm... that looks like a 6800 Non-Ultra to me... not a 6800LE. Which is even better because a 6800NU is 12 pipes and a 6800LE is 8 pipes.

Well, the online shops show them as 6800LE, and the price is 30% cheaper then the 6800nu

Edit: Mailed the shop and they confirms that it is an 6800LE
