"Adam Gilchrist then smashed 24 not out from 25 balls as Australia reached its target of 66 in just 7.5 overs."

This is really getting just plain silly. Drum, you are actually excited about an Aussie cricket victory over that renown cricket power... USA? Would you care to discuss baseball, basketball, soccer, hockey, or the fact that you have such a major inferiority complex when it comes to The USA? I hope this victory continues to thrill you for days to come.

Get a life already. :lame:

it brings up more a problem with the ICC than with US cricket as a whole...

why in the world tier 2 nations are allowed to play v/s tier 1 nations is beyond me... its humiliating invariably for the lesser nations and its boring for the better nations...

a tier 2 tourney before the main championship with the winners entering the group phases is not a bad idea and hopefully one that will be adopted...

not to say its decidedly dangerous...

if anyone had watched the game and seen the american batsmen... specially the tailenders being peppered with 150kmph deliveries that were smashing against their shins and bouncers whizzing past their head it would have been very apparent that this was not quite the best situation to learn how to face some of the fastest bowlers in the world...

I fully agree with ponting's comments post match...

wrt bknblk's comment...

australia would win v/s the US in hockey... football is a tossup... baseball and basketball probably go to the USA although australia won the silver @ the olympics for baseball...

lol, thats just bknblk for ya. he seems to think I have something against america, and maybee a mental imbalance.. so he makes posts like that to show how a normal sensible person would respond :p :D:D Its nice when your opponents do the work for you. (edit: whats that? changed your post allready?)

lol, save it for the political forum mate! all I did was quote a sports news headline and some links, and you went off again. someone here has a problem allright. this is the SPORTS forum if you can't read. and if you don't find a cricket score like that amusing, you don't know anything about cricket either! did you actually read the story?? or are you just here to stir up trouble. (heh, and who said i posted it cause I was excited.. I just thought it was funny)

I think most tail enders get to experience that in any international cricket game. Its allways good for the bowlers to be on the recieving end from time to time :D (spoken as a batter)

The US plays cricket? Wow well done Australia you beat a country that isn't even good at the game ;) you shouldn't gloat about a victory over a country that doesn't even care about the game.

Now who are the Rugby Union world champions again after beating Australia in Australia? ;)

I think Australia, NZ and France have all already got their revenge for that World Cup win. England Rugby Union has gone downhill since we won that, and we have a lot of ground to make up on Australia and the likes before we start winning.

Make no mistake, England are probably the thrid or fourth best team in the world right now, despite only winning the World Cup less than a year ago... Shame. Hopefully, with Johnny back now we can pull it back a bit, but we need a bit more time with this younger side.

As for the cricket, I too feel its unfair. Did you seem them fielding? They were like a baseball side trying to catch things one-handed bouncing up over their head with a backwards dive. News for you guys and your coaches: In cricket the last thing to be is scared of the ball. Go to it, don't wait for it to come with you! If you don't you'll only be hurt more.

Their batting wasn't exactly great either, but then again who's is against Australia's bowling. It IS quite dangerous for people who look like they've never actually batted before, in that sort of situation, to be batting against 90mph deliveries... If these guys are serious about cricket (i.e. it is their professional job) then they should probably be packed off to Australia or to England to learn the game in one of the Academies. Then they can at least get some experience and learn the basics which they showed that they didn't know.

oh well, we had to let you beat us at something, and it certainly wasn't going to be cricket!! :D (everyone would accuse us of match fixing :( )

For real, Americans play cricket?

Hopefully this dismal failure will put an end to that sport in this country.
