Time to ante up, did you actually vote in todays elections? With such heated topics as DMCA, RIAA, and the MPAA (ancronym soup or what?) dominating the future of the way we exchange information. Now's the time to make your voice heard or just shut up.
Of course there's a boatload of other issues out there, but those are the ones that may affect the majority of us regardless of polictical party affiliation.

As it's both my right and duty as an American citizen I voted. :)

I haven't yet, but plan too between my 2 classes today. The polling place closes at 7. As to issues however, it wouldn't make much of a difference. The candidates are too busy slinging mud at each other to focus on issues. This has been the extreme in negative campaigning. Probably the only thing that will make much of a difference is the referendum questions (which I haven't seen yet), not the candidates themselves.

And oh yes, at this point I can't tell who the biggest lier of the bunch is, neither of them will indicate where they stand on anything from all the campaigning I've seen so far. Though both do act as if they hated each other's guts though...

Nope. I don't vote. Even if I did, I'd forget to do it.

And why exactly don't you vote? Might as well live in a totalitarian society if citizens aren't going to exercise their choices over who governs them. It is, after all, only the cornerstone of our system of government.

not old enough but i did the kids vote..

for california. in one of the candidate pictures, a libeterian pat wright was holding a raccoon. and he looked very serious. the funniest thing i've ever seen so i voted for him.

i guess thats why they don't let people under 18 vote :)

I wanted to vote but I slept too long and it's too late now. I live in the crappiest district, man! The border between Monroe and Raisinville township is only 2 miles east of my house. The folks in Monroe township can vote 1 street to the south of my house (about 2 miles away). But those in Raisinville township (me) have to drive about 10 miles west - deep into the boonies...halfway to Dundee.

Where the busses don't run! :(

I'm too young, otherwise I would have voted. Dunno about presidential elections though, those are quite un-democratic when compared with the elections that took place today.

didn't have the chance to today, besides, not really insterested in any of the candidates, and both candidates for governor suck.

And they wonder why some people don't vote...the all important Constitutional referendum question of "Do you support the changing of Article x Section y of the NM State Constitution so as to change the name of the New Mexico Highway Commission to the New Mexico Transportation Commission?" OMG, of all the important issues in our society, that is the one to get a referendum :p

I don't care what you call the stupid thing. What these dudes is far more important then a name change. How about a referendum on some important issue, rather then on a name change like this?

And as I said, if negative campagning is a negative, then they all sucked. I just voted against the incumbents, it isn't like they left me anything better. This is why people don't vote and those who do have to resort to decisions like this, cause the candidates suck, and when they do campaign, they seldom say something meaningful which could allow one to make an educated vote. Now let these arses figure out among themself who is lieing about the other guy lieing...that is hardly a focus on the issues one might be interested in seeing addressed.

Why don't I vote? Simple. The system worked without me long before I was even born and it'll work without me long after I'm gone. Besides. It's the electorial college who actually desides on who gets the job. Our votes are just more or less a poll to see which candidate we would like to see in office as a nation. Presidents have lost before where the popular vote (that's you and me...well, you anyhow) was in their favor but lost because the electorial vote was not. Doesn't really seem like ANY of the peoples votes count, does it?

Just my thoughts on the subject.

when i'm 18..i don't know if i'm going to vote. not trying to be racist but all candidates are white. there are two views, theres white perspective and multicultural perspective. i'd like to see more of the multicultural perspective.

Crap, the republicans have the senate now too. Not that I have anything against republicans or anything, but now Bush is free to do whatever the heck he wants (ie: invade the world) and be unchecked. This isn't how government was meant to be.

I wish our next president would be a nice moderate, not too conservative but not too liberal; like our state's governor, a moderate democrat (amazing a democrat got elected in Kansas though).

Oh that is a given, now that conservatives have the power they need the CIA, NSA, DIA, FBI and various other agencies will get their powers back and will no longer be impotent as they were when the Democrats castrated them.:D ;)

How in the blue hell did the republicans get outright control?

I think the majority of voters fell for his Iraq Iraq Iraq thing. Lets forget the economy we need to get Iraq

I gotta be honest with you - Do you know why the Republicans have the Senate? It's not because the majority of Americans thought that the Republicans had a better plan. No - it's because the majority of the Americans thought there was no other alternative! The Democrats are DOA - ASLEEP AT THE WHEEL.

I truly think the majority of Americans wanted to vote Democratic but didn't because they literally didn't have anything to really offer. Planless. Clueless. Like a Radio Shack employee! C'mon, you know it's bad when Dick Gephardt stands up and says, "!@#% this, I quit!!"

In my state of Michigan, we finally have a Democrat for Governor who also happens to be the first ever female elected governor. If only the majority of the Democrats ran a campaign as vigorous as Jennifer Granholm, there'd be a different story in DC right now. She whipped Dick Posthumous and Dick fought a good battle, too. I mean - it was hard telling how this would end up going. It was tooth and nail all the way.

Personally, even if I were a staunch "Ted Nugent" Republican, there's just no way I could bring myself to vote for Dick Posthumous. I just don't feel right voting for someone whose surname is an adjective, especially an adjective that's closely associated with DEATH. :p :D

yeah, the dems lost a sure-win in at least one state when the Minnesota candidate died.

I think that some of the American people fell for Bush's crap about homeland security and all that. Amazing how quickly people are willing to give up freedoms taken for granted all these years. It also makes sense, though, that they voted republican because the dems didn't offer much. I personally feel that enough is being offered just knowing they would at least put somewhat of a check on Bush.

PsychoSy, I agree that the dems didn't have a whole lot to offer, but at least they weren't willing to allow Bush freedom to bomb the crap out of anything and anyone he pleases. Bush essentially now has a blank check.

I personally hate having such a war-hawk for a president, as I have no interest of having the risk of being called up to go fight and die for a worthless cause when I turn 18. If it happens, I'm moving to a nice liberal place somewhere in Europe, like maybe Amsterdam.

Our state is in the same position yours is in. We now have a Democrat governor who campaigned really hard and has some pretty good ideas for policies.

Yeah, the democrats really let this one go. They could have done more to attract voters and present a message. I mean, what was their message for this year?

EDIT: I think the democrats also lost some votes when they turned that dead guy's memorial service into a political rally. I mean, how unrespectful was that?!
