I've heard on the net that only intel chipsets support hyperthreading 845&850 via bios update and the 845PE-GE.
companys have released their hyperthreading bios for 845-850.It seems that all chipsets both intel and non-intel will support pentium4 3.06Ghz but only intel will support the hyperthreading feature. What do you think?

are you sure about that? i thought i read something about SiS preparing a chipset with hyperthreading on some website.

Yeah, I think you're wrong man, my mobo isn't Intel and it has Hyperthreading.;)

How do you know it supports hypertreading?Correct me if I'm wrong but bios updates for intel chipsets with hyperthreading support have been around for a month, haven't seen any for sis.
And yes stealthHawk the new sis chipsets(dual channel)will support hyperthreading but not current ones.

Go here (http://www.msicomputer.com/support/bios_result.asp) and then choose "648 Max-L (MS6585)" and then it will show 2 bios file there. The latest version enables Hyperthreading and support for 3.06 Ghz+ P4s.

EDIT: I know that it has hyperthreading, why? I'm not blind, I can see it in the bios. You're wrong. Don't know where you got your info from.

Saw the page and read it supports hyperthreading. My info about sis chipsets came from an asus rep who said that hyperthreading wasn't entirely supported.Strange statement so I posted a topic to gather more info.

I have an 845 mobo (earlier ones with only SDRAM support) will hyper threading be enabled on my P4 cpu?

No I mean using my original Pentium 4 chip and it doing hyperthreading.

No every pentium4 until after 2.8Ghz will not support hyperthreading. They do have hyperthreading but it was disabled in the fab.

they're enabling hyperthreading on the 2.8GHz?

or do you mean, "every pentium4 until after 2.8Ghz will not support hyperthreading."
