Is this a new version? Looks kinda similar to the one they released about a year ago. Oh well, it's still pretty in either case, can't wait until more games use it. Just imagine Speedtree landscapes, with Half-life 2 physics, and Morrowind quality water...wait...isn't that Farcry :D

I get either connection refused or file not found on those links using FireFox? Works with IE???

I didnt find it impressive at all. I've seen much better trees. :)

Well duh, if you look out the window I'm sure you'll see better trees, but this is impressive because it's being RENDERED ON YOUR COMPUTER :D

Heh, I think even the trees in BF1942 look better.

Just wait til you see the trees in Tiger Woods 2005....huge improvement over the 2004 trees and IMHO, much better than these, taking nothing away from these...

It's not working because the slashes are wrong. Instead of a /, you linked the pics with a \ . Replacing the slash makes the links work.

hmm.. maybe its best seen in action, but they seem a little bland. Kinda flat color scheme... aside from that they look pretty good.

Yeah it's worth checking out. The bump mapping on the tree bark looks nice. I agree that the color pallete on the screenshots above looks a bit washed out, but you can control gamma correction and there are also more colorful maps (see main screen below).

I actually liked their first demo speedtree demo myself. I think the biggest point of the demo isnt to show the best looking trees ever...but more nice landscapes with a ship load of trees on the screen at once. Would defently be good for games like Ghost Recon and Americas Army etc :)

Well said. The sheer numbers of trees present at nice framerates (granted, without any AI or much in the way of physics involved though, etc) is more than impressive and like nothing seen in games today. It's also promising to see the horizon being miles away (instead of in terms of hundreds of yards as is the case with most any game's outdoor environments today).

The graphics were okay as far as demos of large maps with huge amounts of animated foliage and a goofy little flyable helicopter go.

Just wish it had 5.1 surround sound. That would be nice.

Demo apparently makes use of Instancing when available (On the Geforce 6800 series) , And 2.0 Pixel/Vertex Shaders. Looks really good.

Downloading now. Should make a good benchmark.
