...Until it comes time to spend the public's money on it.

Seriously it's rediculous how under-funded public schools are today. They are being forced to prostitute themselves to junk-food companies for sponsorship money and sell their fattening, calorie-laden products to an already-obese youth. It's sickening to see the ads in schools. How long will it take before America realizes the stupidity of its current spending trends on education?

Hi netviper13: I'm curious to know how much you think we are spending per student in this country.

Underfunded? This country is spending more money than ever before on education. No, don't confuse being inefficient with being underfunded. Increasingly more people are saying more money is not the answer.

Under-funded my ass. We've been spending more and more on the education system every year, and getting less and less for it. The system is broken. It's setup like some communist system. It needs some kind of competiton to keep it going. Government needs to regulate the education system, not dictate it.

so, do you have any specific complaints about how the schools are being run, or remedies for these problems? what does having the "government regulate the eudcation system, not dictate it" mean. who should dictate what be taught? no one?
