Well, we've all read about these new NV4x series GPUs, and some of you rich and lucky folks have been able to find out for yourself how good they really are. Since I am not as financially well endowed I was especially excited to see the info on the 6600 GT for $200.

But before I go and get me a whole budget AMD/Nvidia PCI-express setup, I want it to include COMPLETE HDTV support. The video acceleration of the NV4x series along with PCI-express bandwidth will surely help make a killer HDTV Personal Cinema product. Strap it to the budget 6600 GT and I will be the first person to order the pre-order application to get in line for one of these. :drooling: But will we ever see such a product? When will it come?

Ok, I admit: I am an Nvidia fanboy. ATI makes solid products and I couldn't be more happy that they are competing well with Nvidia, but right now I just won't be getting an ATI ALL-in-Wonder or ATI HDTV or any single card combination thereof...Ever since I built my current K7/nforce box I was hooked on Nvidia driver support and with the Geforce 5700 Personal Cinema Nvidia really comes pretty close to catching up with ATI on the GPU/Tuner card combo.

So, I will wait....and wait...and wait...until word of a Geforce 6600 GT Personal Cinema with HDTV Tuner. Then I will finally be able to soil myself the way it happens in my dreams...sigh...

AFAIK nvidia will not release a personal cinema with component output only DVI.

I've heard it will be a daugther card which will handle video inputs and the hdtv tuner, the nv40 already handles the hdtv signals and encoding/decoding.

right now the nv40 only does decoding .. not encoding...

you mean not yet... I don't know if its enabled in the drivers since there is no software to test it.
