Logitech just recently put a press release (http://www.logitech.com/index.cfm/news/US/EN,contentid=9490,crid=34) regarding their new Logitech® MediaPlay™ Cordless Mouse. Something I've been waiting for a long time, a mouse that doubles as a remote! :nanahump:

The product page can be read here (http://www.logitech.com/index.cfm/products/details/US/EN,CRID=3,CONTENTID=9340) Also make sure to check out the flash demo. The press release says they're availible now in select stores & in Europe later this month.

If only their driver team was as good as their hardware engineers, they'd be rock solid. Have a bad feeling buggy drivers might cripple this gem for a couple months after more mainstream availibility though.

Logitech is the ATI of peripherals, great hardware, shaky software. :p

Seriously, though, the press release doesn't state any information about the optics on this mouse. Does it have the same sensor as the MX700 or MX1000? Is it something different entirely?

I like the looks of it, but I'm also wondering about specs. I really wish Logitech would do a designer mouse like Microsoft did, that would be sweet.

btw, post # 2000! w00t! :headbang:

Hah, that's very true. Seems like a good idea, however. It looks like Logitech has been pushing to try to expand their product line as of late.

and...

Post 100! *Ruckus*

looks good... if cluttered...

I'd have to see a few reviews before I consider getting that thing...

seems to have a lower profile than the mx700....something i miss when i jumped from a boomslang to the mx700.

Yea, interested in the specs as well. Even if I got it, I'd still prolly end up using either the MX510 or upcoming Razor Diamondback (http://www.razerzone.com/diamondback.html) for gaming. Can't wait to try it out though.

Now if they only can get their steering wheels up to par, to hold up to long term use.

It's definetly very unique, innovative, fancy... but a bad idea for gamers. It would seem all too easy to accidentally lower the volume in the middle of some intense UT2K4 action, or perhapps accidentally launch the CD Player while playing Doom3 and all of sudden the game minimizes.

It's the perfect mouse for anyone EXCEPT gamers :nanahump:

It is about time someone else made a decent optical mouse. (In regards to the razer diamondback). Although this thread aint about it, I want one :)

The Diamondback certainly has the goods in terms of its hardware, but I don't like the way it looks, nor do I like the button layout. I want Logitech to release an MX510-style mouse with the Diamondback's optics. :drooling:

I'd like to know how many people (other than me) just keep their system sound at 75% and either adjust wave output or the actual physical controls on the unit (e.g.: control module on Klipsch 5.1s).

I can't even start to say how useless that would be (well, maybe a little bit more useful that that stupid "application switch" button).

The fact that there are volume up/down buttons on it despite the fact that keeping around 75% (like you should with analog) really can't be modified... It's a stupid idea IMO and I thought I should share it for all the people who aren't using $10 convenience store speakers.

Only a head up the rectum fool would keep their sound at 75%. Every one knows that 74.5% is where its at. :D

I use digital out so I dont care. Also when using headphones w/o volume control it is nice to adjust the sound, that is what USB headphones do as well. In summary it does make sense and is useful b/c anyone who wants to listen to a DVD will be using SPDIF out anyway.

I watch DVDs with analog... I feel that my sound card's DAC is better than any receiver that I could afford (I was looking around and it'd be ~$250 for a decent set-up, but I'd still have to use the pre-outs since the Klipsch aren't the correct ohms to just plug in the +/-).

would be nice if they had a slightly out of the way button to enable the volume and other remote functions thereby reducing/eliminating the possibility of accidental clicks and the like...

Check out this early review (http://translate.google.com/translate?u=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.clubic.com%2Far%2F167 14-1.html&langpair=fr%7Cen&hl=en&safe=off&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&prev=%2Flanguage_tools) of the mouse. Also includes a sneak pic of possibly the diNovo 2?. It supposed to come w/ a colored LCD also :)

Guys I just snagged this mouse from local Best Buy yesterday afternoon, fresh off the truck. Surprise, surprise, it actually works better than originally anticipated. Drivers are a bit querky as become the norm for Logitech's new products but its functionality is too good to pass up. Media pc lovers & just those of us who watch or listen to a lot media on our pcs should absolutely fall love with it. More later, 3AM rioght now and I feel like a walking zombie :alien:
