Below is what I sent to foxsports.com via their provided feedback form.

Regarding this story by Kevin Hench: http://msn.foxsports.com/story/3013180?GT1=5012

Does Kevin Hench fail to realize that the rules are what they've always been? That they simply were NOT being called as they SHOULD have been called in the past? Mr. Hench never even once uses the word "rule" in his story. He's completely skewing facts here. I find it laughable that such a grossly incorrect story ever made it out of the editing process.

So who is the real crybaby/pantywaist here? Rules are rules, they've always been there. No rules have been added or changed by the competition committee regarding this particular issue. I suppose that if players start stepping out of bounds and referees stop calling out of bounds...that the competition committee would be "crybabies" by steering the referees back to the clearly defined rules regarding out of bounds. Give me a freaking break.

Oh you're just pissed because he called out Colts officials/coaches. :p

I do agree with you, though. The rules are the rules. The NFL is just becoming more strict about it now.

Of course I am! :D Regardless of how people want to spin the rules though, the point is that the competition committee neither added/changed any rules. Maybe Hench would be even happier if they just let corners come up and tackle a WR before they even snap the damn ball. This whole "argument" is just lame and baseles. I cannot believe it was deemed worthy of being posted at foxsports.com.

UPDATE: Oh I almost forgot: (soapbox) :D

Yeah, the way Hench paints Dungy is despicably wrong.

BTW, this guy found out some intereting info on Mr. Hench (http://www.indystar.com/forums/showpost.php?p=935666&postcount=12).

Actually, is there anything that says the defense the can't carry baseball bats?

It's funny how the only teams who are complaining about the rules actually be followed are the ones that made their reputation by beating up receivers instead of covering them. If they actually keep calling the penalties the rest of this year, I think we'll see who are the good defensive backs with actual talent and who are the ones who were considered good because they just mugged the receivers they were covering.

Exactly. The Patties hardly look like a dominating defense when they have to play by the rules that have been in place for decades. I mean, they beat AZ but it wasn't convincing by any means and the Colts had three turnovers in the red zone, missed a field goal and still just lost by a field goal at Foxboro. :)

My whole stance is that if the rule(s) need to be changed...then change them...fine. However, until that happens, the rules should be adhered to. Otherwise, why not just stray away from other rules.
