Power LED on m-board stays ON when I shut down

I installed a new graphics card, but didn't hold the power button to discharge the system.. Now the power light on my motherboard keeps lighting when I shut down(Small orange LED on my motherboard). I now have to turn off my surge protector everytime I turn the computer OFF just to be safe. Is this going to cause any damages to my system? Can it be fixed? The system works normal though. HELP!!!!

My computer has the samething...I guess it signals to let you know that there is power running through the motherboard. As always it is good to unplug your computer physically before installing or removing hardware.
