Hi there,
I have a Quadro FX 1100 running under windows xp with 2 gigs of ram and 2 3 ghz P4s. Switching between desktops seems to be very slow. If there is nothing running on any of the desktops, switching is reasonably fast, but once I have a few apps up it gets rediculously slow. It also seems like if I start switching around too quickly, the applications get confused as to which desktop they belong to. I had a similar set up at my last workplace, but running Linux, and switching desktops was very fast regardless of what was going on with the desktops. That was using whatever was built into Gnome, however. I tried using Xdesk, and Powertoys desktop switcher and a few other software based desktop management programs, but I got basically the same results. I have a laptop at home runing Linux that has a PIII 350 and some crappy old graphics card running XFCE, and its a LOT more responsive than what I have here at work. Surely I can get better performance under XP with this hardware setup. Any ideas?
Thanks a lot,
Matt
