Ok. I'm just kidding, And I know its a :lame: title but people will see it. I recently Got a Radeon 9800 Pro for my second machine. After months of trying to trade my 5900 (and ending up in a disaster) Glowstick came along and helped.

Though my HD is crashed and I reinstalling Windows right now (it is unrelated to the 9800 Pro) I have to wait a bit to give it any real test run. I am pretty excited to check it out, I have been wanting one of these babies for a while. I kinda missed Rotated Grid Anti Aliasing in Everquest so this will be nice to have again. Most importantly it runs cooler :)

Aside from the lack of Digital Vibrance and super Sampling. I'm sure I will be pretty pleased, I also will get a chance to try out that new ATI control panel. :ORDER:

I have a 9700 pro in one of my backup machines. It was by far my favorate card of all time and that sucker is still going strong. The CCC sucks in my opinion. Its slow and takes up tons of memory.

So anyway, I am enjoying this card alot. The AA quality is way better @ 4x/16x AF for Everquest, and WoW, and it runs great,

Unfortunately I am very unhappy with this new CCC, I really wanted to believe that people were exxagerating how bad the CCC is, But I dont get it, When I use the 3d preview, With the card, Changing a setting takes about 15 seconds,

When using the no preview tab, Its even worse, When I try to change the slider, It will take almost 15 seconds to move the slider to 2x to 4x, without even trying to press the apply button, SOmetimes the buttons go black as if I have run out of resources.

This is with a fresh install, Does anyone know how to get around this? I like the interface of the CCC, But damn its just too laggy for me to use.

This is on An Athlon XP 2000+ with 696 Megs of Memory.

I don't think you want to know that Phase two is...

It's where he steals your Family Jewels and creates a clone army...

You need CCC to use ATI's AI features. The higher this is set, the smarter the Anti-Aliasing and Filtering will be. This is a great feature, since it improves performance will no noticable quality hit.

CCC is a bloated GUI for a control panel, yet it is also designed for complete n00bs, so you can cut ATI some slack there.

Well so far I am liking this card, I wanted one about 8 months ago really bad, when mu 6800NU died I really got a chance to use it and I was pretty impressed by it. The only game which really didnt run well for me was Doom 3. *shrug* and Far Cry (at the same setting my NU did) but it was fine. I'm not a fan of angle dependent anisotropic filtering. But I have had to deal with it since the 6800 arrived so its become a bit less noticable to me nowadays.

If it had Digital Vibrance and Super Sampling. Last years purchasing decision would have been so much easier. That being said. I just wish ATI would use more innovative cooling solutions.

ATI is working on Digital Vibrance. It should be released soon. I'm not sure if SSAA would make any sense o a 9800 PRO though. It would be way too slow in any actual game.

Wasnt too slow on a 5900 in some certain games and the 9800 line has a higher pixel fill than the Nv3x seriea. its a compatibility mode. Wouldnt neccasarily be neccasary for newer games. Then again, This was last year, ATI unfortunately came up too little too late in this case. As its no longer about the r300 series really.
