"How does Nitro sound for a name?"

That's what the Inquirer said in an article talking about an actual nVidia confrence. If this was speculation, I woud laugh it off. But this is real confrence! Sounds like the Inquirer was hinting/winking at us!

Debate away!

i agree...it's kinda unoriginal

but if they do name it that it will go with the whole "explosion" motif nvidia's got going...you know TNT, Detonator, etc.

whatever the name i'll still get it though ;)

hmm...interestign name. Doesn't sounds too bad. I just don't want to hear Geforce 5!! Why can't they just call it the NV30??? I love that name.

Trademarks only hold for the area of their specific application. For example, Apple owns that trademark as applied to computers, perhaps software, and maybe some related electronic devices. If I wanted to make "Apple Jeans" then I would be perfectly within the law.

I don't see how the TNT channel and graphics cards are in the same market at all. In fact, notice that both nV and TNT have registered the "TNT" trademark? ;)

Oh, and "Nitro" sounds really gay.

Besides, TNT is an acronym for Turner Network Television.

I'm in with others in that nitro = gay. That would should be left to wrestling and boys who rice out their Honda Civics but not for video cards. I personally wouldn't mind if they left it at NV30. :)

I wish the K8 was still officially "the Hammer" instead of Opteron or whatever. At least in that case it's still referred to as "the Hammer" in the web press and on TV occasionally.

Oh, and "Escort" is both a car and a radar detector, "Nautilas" is both a speaker line from B&W and a line of excercise equipment, etc....

The server/workstation version of Hammer is Opteron, but the desktop version is still gonna be the Athlon.

Its sad to say this, but I would buy the NV30 if it was named NITRO. I still be happy, but not proud.

if i had money, i would buy it, rename nitro in the nvdisp4.inf and get a bios editor and rename it too.
