GF 4 MX 440 TV Flicker problem

i have a nvidia geForce 4 MX 440 with tv out video card and am trying to get my computer display to my TV. also have the latest driver of 6.1.7.7.
i hook up the s-vhs plug to my dvd / vcr scart plug which is video 1. after rebooting system the TV is detected no problem but the problem is that the TV screen is flickering (i can barely make out the desktop) totally out of control.
i've tried to play with various settings but can not get it to stop flickering.
anyone, anyone out there that can help?? :nanahump:
