View Full Version : Performance prob w/ asus v9999gt 128mb

Except for doom3, 3dmark03 and 05,which run great, my framerate in all other games i've tested till now is very slow, like around 30fps (i play at 1024x768). Plus, adding AA and AF doesn't show considerable performance losses, only 5 to 10 fps less. On windows information, the inf file says nv4_NV3x, and so does the far cry console; shouldn't they say nv4_NV4x instead? Everything recognises my board as 6800gt though, and riva tuner says it has 16pipes and 6 vertex shaders as it should. I'm trying to figure out if the prob comes from the hardware or if there's some kind of error with some files, before going to the store where i bought the card. Can someone help me?

Give us your computer specs and all.
We will try our best to help you. :)

Sounds like a slow CPU to me. Whats the specs

Makes me wonder how doom3 can run great and theese "other games" not, what games friend ?

My system is:
Asus P4P800 (socket865PE)
P4 2,6Ghz - 800mhz fsb
2x512Mb DDR400 PC3200 Twinmos
2xATA drives (seagate 80gb 2mbcache,7200rpm and matrox 20gb,5400rpm)
Samsung CD-RW 48x24x48x
Enermax Noisetaker 375W PSU (27A total on +12Vrail)
Asus V9999GT 128Mb DDR1 (before this one I had a Creative FX5700Ultra w/ no probs at all)
The drivers I used so far were 65.73 and 66.81 and both have this prob.
I forgot to say that I play everygame with max settings. For example doom3 is ultra high w/ 4xAA 8xAF and runs normally at 60fps, with only a few slowdowns to about 50fps. I haven't tested many apps yet because I formatted my HDD just a few days ago and didnt't had enough time to install more games. I've run spellforce, far cry, richard burns rally, doom3, 3dmark05 and 3dmark03. The first 3 apps run slow and the last 3 run ok.
I still have the same question for geforce 6series users, does the windows system information show nv4_NV3x or nv4_NV4x?

Those are dependant on the CPU. Thats why its running so slow. Faster CPU's in Doom 3 dont make a difference. Same with 3dmark03 and 05. If I were you I would either Overclock your pentium, or buy a new one. Minimum you can run today is around 3ghz.

That's a possibility but i'm not sure if it would bottleneck at such a low framerate. Gotta test UT04 e COD, I know that on UT04 with medium settings the cpu bottlenecked my fx5700Ultra at nearly 100fps.
Answer this please (only for geforce 6series users):
What does your windows system information says about the graphic card? nv4_NV3x family or nv4_nv4x family?
i dont think cpu is the bottleneck in this case
You have the Asus GT.... which is not a real GT imo. Your card has 128mb of DDR1 memory (2.8ns) instead of 256mb DDR3 (2.0ns) memory like the official GT reference specs.
I have no doubt that difference is what you expierenced.

So how do you explain the 60fps I get in doom3 with ultra high quality and 4xAA 8xAF@1024x768, and on 3dmark05 I have a score between the 6800NU and the 6800gt 256mb as expected. I think those are the biggest video memory consumers. BTW I tested shadermark v2.1 and it runs great. Going to test UT04 and COD, i'll tell u the results later.

my bro has a asus v9999gt 128 mb card and he says it rocks, what card did you have before and are you happy with the difference? your mostly going to see a difference in newer games.
the v9999gt is a real gt but with slower mem(700mhz)
i think its good value as its only priced a little higher than a standard 6800.
@ 1024x768 u wont see too much difference in some games compared to a 9800, but in others you'll see heaps(like in 3dmark 05)
i wouldnt worry too much the card you have is great. get a faster cpu if you wonna see better improvement with the resolutions you are using.

let us know how you go, i want to get that card as soon as i get more cash

found 2 links so far on this card, benchmark are so hard to come by, hopefully anand or someone does a proper review of this card.http://www.benchmark.pl/artykuly/recenzje/GeForce_6800/Asus_9999GT.html
