View Full Version : How about a review with modified 6800nu

I know some guys here do reviews sometimes. I'd like to request a review of a 6800nu after it has been modified with pixel/vertex unit activated. Also, maybe throw in performance gains when overclocked as well. This might be real interesting to see the difference between it and 6800GT. Just some food for thought.

In my experience, the gains aren't impressive. The 6800NU doesn't really get a big boost in Far Cry or Doom 3 from the extra pipes. It still can't hold a candle to its bigger brothers. It must be the slow RAM (?).

I might do some tests later on (Doom3, CS:S, Farcry). I only tried 3dmark03 sofar and got around 11,500 which is a lot more than stock (9500), both of em overclocked. It gets close to a GT which isn't overclocked. But then again, you can pretty much overclock any GT.
And yes, the memory is the limiting factor (mine maxes out at about 800), whereas the core performs similarly (420 overclocked).
I'll put some stuff together and post my results on these benchmarks (overclocked and stock speeds)

That's far-out. My 3DM2003 only went from 9400 to 9900. I think this is because I lost the ability to OC my core with the extra pipes.

I don't have alot of games to bench with, but 2k4 fps went up a substantial amount. Benching at 1600x1200 on flyby went from 121 fps to 136 fps.
