the dothan's have a 400mhz fsb, so does that mean we need to put in pc3200 sodimms? or is 333mhz maxing it out and the 400mhz fsb something different

You could use pc2100 with a Dothan. The 400MHz FSB you refer to is if fact a 100 MHz FSB quad pumped like the willamette core p4s. You most certainly do not need PC3200.
