Hey

I have a GeForce FX5600 XT card from Galaxy. I'm experiencing problems with newer drivers, the 61.77 etc. I'm able to play games like Sof2, but the performance is reduced like 2,5 times. And in tests with 3DMark03 it gives me less points (about 800 points). If I use the older driver 5664, it works just fine, and gives me about 1800+ 3DMark points! (This is with NO overclocking)

Did I misunderstand something?? I thought the new drivers supported the old cards like mine!?

Just because drivers support a particular card doesn't mean newer versions will offer performance benefits. If the older drivers are working well for you, then stick with 'em.

There are a whole slew of things that can adversely affect drivers.
CPU
Mainboard
POWER SUPPLY
Hard Drives
DVD - CDroms
TV Card
Memory

to
other software you have running
Antivirus

to
Ambient temperature of the room

It all depends on how the system is setup
if its overclocked, if all hardware is working properly
The list goes on and on.

Basically you just need to see what drivers ,bios and settings work best for Your system.

And like saturnotaku said, "Just because drivers support a particular card doesn't mean newer versions will offer performance benefits".

I didn't count on any benefits, but atleast as good performance as before.

Just so you know it, there has been no change in settings, inbetween the drivers. In other words, in every driver, I tested the Default configuration.

Thanks for the replies!

welcome, angel
Glad to see there were no problems too.

As far as benefits its kinda like the ol saying ...
Somedays your the dog, somedays your the hydrant.

Looks like your the dog today (-:
