At 400 it runs absolutely fine...except i get artifacts on the water demon in 3dmark05 (ONLY the waterdemon). I have no luck with cards :(.

Radeon 9700np - didnt even do 290 (stock 270) on core. Traded it to a friend for...
Radeon 9700Pro - didnt even get 330 out of it (stock 324). Upgraded to...
BFG 6800GTOC - doesnt even get 390 on core.

Im not pissed...but still....im kinda pissed :retard:

I run my Pov 6800(nu) fully stable @ 385 core. I did run @ 400 with other drivers but after updating and enabeling all the pipes i had to go down a bit.

my 6800GT can only do 450 on the core :(. I might try the 1.5volt mod to see if it gets rid of artifacts since Im only pulling 72*C on the core under full load

Dam what kind of WC do you have? Me wants! Especially with 72C under load!

Cali3350, Sucks for your OC. Maybe with 1.4v and a NV5 you can get higher...

What m/b do you have?

I had the infamous k8n neo2 platinum for a few weeks and I couldn't get my bfg 6800gt over 385 no matter what I did.. stock voltage

the neo2 died and I have and A8V now, and it will run at 408ish max now on stock v

I did the 1.4 volt mod and it bumps it up to 430ish,
currently running at 1.3v till my nv5 arrives in a day or 2

Your card is quite incapable of 450 on the core if you're getting artifacts. And it's been explained to you that regardless of what temperature is being reported, if your GPU can't handle a particular speed, then that's about it.

Just be glad you were able to get any sort of overclock at all.

my pny geforce 6800gt maxed out at 390-550(1100). My evga 6800 ultra runs fine at 440 1200 60 under load 54 idle. Seems that the the gt are really more of a crap shoot but really the oc aren't bad on the most part for the gt's on the whole, they still rock!

If u r looking for more you should have got an ultra.
Most GT's will not do much over 400.
My last GT would not even do 385.

I know, but when I bought my 6800GT, 6800Ultras were impossible to find so I had to stick with this. Sometime in the near future when nForce 4 mobo's come out with SLI I will get two 6800 Ultras and SLI them. Im just using this as a temp for right now and will probably give this rig to my dad in the future.

I hear ya. If I could have found an Ultra
that is what would be in my rig now.
They are as rare as hens teeth.

Try living in Australia, GTs and X800Pros are only just appearing, if they were around before now, they were at Ultra and XT prices.

I paid $800AUD for my GT, which was pretty good at the time, but only now are they approaching $750. Ah well she was worth it.

With respect that's a matter of opinion. Its not an opinion I share.

I see lots and lots of people with GT's hitting 425MHz plus. Quite a number of people getting 440 or 450 or more. Mine would do around 418 out of the box and now with a 1.4v bios tweak it will do 453. I don't think that's actually too incredible either. Its the same chip as the Ultra, so why not. Its all about yield at the plant and what speed the chips will do at what voltage. Demand for GT's is high and supply of Ultras is constrained because of ram availability. So good chips are going into GT's right now. I think the *majority* of GT's will do well over 400MHz.
