One in the eye for Conspiracy theorists

One of the 9/11 conspiracies is that the Pentagon was not hit by a plane because the hole was too small and nothing much resembling a plane could be seen with a quick examination of a photograph on the internet ;) and to explain this it was suggested that it was a missile strike launched by your own government.

This is a long line of conspiracy theories where government employees no longer wish to serve the USA but end up wanting to serve the government instead and become incredibly clever and cunning masterminds, subverting the people at the merest whim.

However, most of these schemes are so tenuous that more and more convoluted and incredible things have to be brought into the equation making the whole operation mindbendingly difficult to pull off. A good example of this would be America not landing on the moon.

Now assuming that America did not land on the moon then the experience that you guys gained in covering this up to this day would have been more than enough to make something very easy to cover up, like planting WMD's in Iraq a snip ! Easy !

But the USA did not plant WMD's in Iraq and so have, with the UK, had to take the heat. Why on earth did the highly experienced government masterminds not take up this easy - childs play - piece of cake -option ?

I think the lack of WMD's being planted in Iraq by the USA is good reason to doubt far more fantastic consipracy theories that fly around, like remote contolled 9/11 planes, the twin towers being blown up deliberately , man not landing on the moon, area 51 being a holiday camp for sasquatch etc etc.

Nice post Andy. I have thought the same thing wrt WMDs. If Bush lied to go to war wrt WMDs and did all this to gain politically out of it then why did he not assure we "had" WMDs ready to be planted if he knew Iraq did not have them to begin with? The answer is simple, as logic tells us the most direct and simplest conclusion is most likely the correct one. So we are left with, the president and the rest of the world's intelligence and governments believed Saddam had these weapons. Now we know he doesn't and egg is all over the face of the coalition and the president. This is the reality.

Does this mean that the war its self is not justified? I say that the answer is no. The good that will result out of this war far out weigh the mistakes and casualties that cloud the political landscape right now.
