I am looking to get 1GB Dual Channel Memory for my soon to be built AMD Athlon 64 system. This is the memory I am thinking about getting http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProductDesc.asp?description=20-145-440&depa=0
Corsair Value Select (Dual Pack) 184 Pin 512MBx2 DDR PC-3200 - OEM $163
Is this a good choice? Or could you recommend something better? I would be willing to pay maybe a little more. I will not be over clocking.
Thats good memory for the money. The standard Corsair XMS allows for better timings and has heatspreaders, but the memory you chose is good CL2.5 memory as well. Lifetime warranty too ;)
i have a gig pc 3200 of value select on dual channel mode on an Abit NF7-S 2.0, this memory is stable has an excellent warranty and it's price to performance ratio is awsome, the timings set by the board where 2.5-4-4-8 i was able to lower the timings now there at 2.0-3-3-7 i've had this memory for 5 months now with no issues, i purchased copper heatsinks at bestbye.net for cheap, i put these on for added value, looks and future overclocking, let me put it this way you can't go wrong with Corsair

Are copper Heatsinks needed if I will not over clock?

Im sure we wont be disapointed. ;)
Around 5 months ago, i bought 2x256 PC3200 Pqi dimms, the cheapest ones i could find, and a friend of mine had 2x256 Pc3200 Corsair Value Select. I went over him with my dimms and i was able to use more agressive settings on my dimms than his, but who knows, maybe i got lucky with mine :D

I got that kit back in May when I upgraded my cousins system. It was $40 cheaper at zipzoomfly; now it's still cheaper, but only $3...
I have that memory, and me likeys.
:)
I don't know if I'll like it so much when I go 939 and try some more serious overclocking though.
