I have Palit Daytona GeForce 6800GT.
Monitor Hyundai Q17 LCD (using DVI), native resolution 1280x1024.

Tried 61.77 & 66.81 drivers with the same result -- the ONLY resolutions I can select for desktop are 800x600, 1024x768, and 1280x1024. Specifically 1152x864 and 1280x960 are missing.

Just for a test I switched to analog connection for the monitor and there I can select a lot of resolutions including the aforementioned 12x9 and 11x8.

That in itself would not be a big problem, but I happen to play ol' good CS 1.5 that doesn't support 12x10 resolution. The closest you can use is 12x9 (and that worked without a single problem on my old setup, using the same monitor and ATI Radeon 9500).

As I said above, I cannot set Windows desktop to 12x9... and apparently this applies not only to the desktop, but also for fullscreen mode in games. So when I try to run CS it starts in a window (despite being told to use fullscreen mode) -- 1280x960 window on a 1280x1024.

Did anyone ever encountered such problem (12x9 and 11x8 resolutions are not available using DVI connection)?

My friend has Gainward GeForce 6800GT and he can use 12x9 and 11x8 fullscreen on DVI (he also has a different LCD with 1600x1200 native res).

I've even compared NVidia drivers registry entries from my computer and his computer... All the important parts seem to be the same (in particular nv_modes value).

If anyone has any advice on where problem might be -- I'd be very grateful :)

??? Like I said above, my friend also has 6800GT (different brand though) and he is able to use those resolutions on DVI.

Probably does not have the same monitor though.

To elaborate further:
a) like I already said, ATI Radeon had no problems displaying 12x9 & 11x8 on the same monitor (over DVI)
b) I uncheked "hide modes that this monitor cannot display" and got a huge list with such things as 20x15 etc., which my monitor definitely cannot display. Still no 12x9 and 11x8 though.

Weird that you cant set those resolutions, I can set a whole load of weird resolutions on my TFT via DVI including:

1088x612
1152x864
1280x720
1280x768
1280x800
1280x960
1280x1024
1360x768
1600x900
1600x1024
1600x1200

There are some odd rez in there. And I have "hide modes" ticked.

Does this help: Go to the flat panel settings in the nv display and select Display Adapter Scaling, or Fixed aspect ratio scaling (which is good for a 17" TFT using 1280x960 in a game).

In case someone might be needing it later -- I got those resolutions to work by adding custom resolutions.

I didn't get it to work the first time around because I created custom resolution for the wrong color depth.
