What are you gonna do with the card?

Mostly DirectX titles, or OpenGL games? Or benchmarking? Do you have air, or water cooling?

FYI in advance: It's pretty easy to pick up a barely used 6800GT for ~$350 these days, and almost all of them clock to 6800 Ultra levels (the $500-600 card) or higher...

In addition to what ragejg said...To get some good advice, that you can use, it might be good if you would post your system components. Otherwise, you will just get what card the responder thinks is best and not necessarily what would be the best card for your system.

A P4 what? 1.3? 2.0? 2.8? 3.2? SDRAM? DDR? How much ram you got?

And what games?

I also am going to jump on the bandwangon and recomend a 6800GT, its a relativly high end card for a non 'insane' price.

However if you want the top dogs they are going to be hard to track down, for ATi the top Dog is the x800 XT-PE, however the x800XT witch has slightly lower clocks is easier to find. For Nvidia the top dog is the 6800 ultra, and is also hard to find.

Please PLEASE post complete system details. INCLUDING power supply.

He wants the best, so get a X800 XT PE for DirectX and HL2 and get an 6800Ultra for OpenGL.
