WARNING: this thread is NOT about politics, or my political views on ANYTHING. i am posting this to discuss what a great time i had, not to encourage anyone to vote one way or the other. if it had been george bush, i would have had just as much fun or more because then i could boast having seen the actual president as opposed to a candidate for presidency (regardless of how the election goes).

with that said, i just attended a political rally for john kerry in wakefield, oh. it was quite interesting seeing all of the different people there, and generally since the majority shared the same political beliefs the people seemingly got along very well. it was strange for me to see, because usually in large crowds people don't talk to each other at all, lol.

anyway, it was hosted in a corn field, and to my surprise, we were able to see quite well despite the crowd of 12K people. it really didn't seem that large, but that's what they announced it as on the loud speaker. kerry was late for some reason or another, so he didn't speak very long (i think they are related, but i really have no idea). i took some pictures from my phone's craptastic camera, but they really didn't come out so well. i will include the three best for those who care.

this is an image of kerry speaking on stage, though he looks like a yellow stick, lol.

this is the corn storage silo's on the farm it was hosted at. there really wasn't anything else to look at, so i decided to take a picture of it, heh.

this is my nephew chase during the event... he was quite a handfull, but you can't really expect a 2 year old to enjoy such an event, heh.

anyway, that's all. it was really a cool thing. if a political rally is coming up near you, i definitely suggest going. we drove only about an hour and a half to this one, so it wasn't so bad. i had a great time, though i was unable to get close at all to john kerry. apparently, a lot of people that got there early stood next to the fense where you can shake his hand and such, so there was no chance of landing a spot there :(. would have been amazing to have a closeup picture of john kerry though, heh.

so, anyone else here visit any political rallys lately? have any pictures? i think this thread could be a cool way to share the great experience if anyone is up for it.

while it musta been cool, w/the crowds and such, let's say Linus Torvalds and John Kerry were in town, I'd go see Linus.

lol, i probably would too... however, if bill gates were in town i would go so that i could... errr, right, nevermind :p LOL.

actually, i did try to attend a launch event of windows 2k3, they usually hand out free software.

I would have gone to an MS convention, especially the one that handed out Longhorn alphas.

But yeah, with a huge crowd like that I imagine it would be neat to see Kerry. HOWEVER, with Bill Gates you can nail him in the face with a pie and get away with it. Do that to Kerry and you'll end up with 30 some bodyguards/agents on you with tasers.

I like that Arnold got egged though.

Tasers?

I'd think they'd probably use something else, like...
AN M-14 ASSAULT RIFLE!

...

Okay, sorry about that. I was looking over Full Metal Jacket a few minutes ago.

Cool, that would have been interesting to see. :) I definately would have gone.

I am glad it wasn't Bush though, I don't think I could have resisted the urge to work my way up to the stage and slap that stupid smirk that he always has off of his face :bash:.

Do you think it would be worth taking the greatest beating in American History? Just think: 15 Secret Service officers all giving you an ass whipping that would make former Mayor Richard Daley envious.

LOL, actually it surprised me quite a lot that the event was in such an open place. in the picture i'm sure you can see the hills (they aren't mountains) behind him, all ungaurded, would provide a person a great shot if they were a skilled marksman. though i didn't think it would happen, i thought it was amazing that they would allow for that. i guess it's hard to avoid some things though. was neat seeing all of the police and secret service guys.

we even passed by the press busses (we used an exit that people weren't supposed to use, hehe), so we got to meet the camera guys from cnn and abc and stuff. was really cool, cuz i wanted to be a camera man for a living.

I'm sure they're very well protected, it's just that it seems like it would be kind of easy to find a clock tower and pull a Charles Whitman.

LOL I think I would have to make it an assassination attempt rather than a slap to make the beating I would get actually worth it. :retard:Man, you really need to be careful with saying stuff like that. It's a federal offense to threaten the president's life... now sure, you're in Canada so I'm sure you think you're safe. But just remember - all of a sudden the president will accuse the city of Vancouver of giving nuclear weapons to terrorists and he'll pre-emptively attack you. :D

Er, you do live in the Vancouver area, right? I'm not confusing you with someone else?

lol, what stopped me is that i got to actually be a camera man for my church... i'm sure with better equipment it would be a more pleasurable experience, but i really didn't think it was a good idea.

on the less defensive side, however, nothing ever stopped me, i just never got started in that direction. i think the reason i've always been so intrigued with cameras and such is because i was so sheltered from them as a child. it's a sad thing that i don't have a single video tape of footage from my childhood because my parents (for some reason) just did not want to buy a video camera. not complaining or anything, i just am pointing out that things i have been kept from i was always attracted to, computers being the primary example (my father did and still does think the internet is satan himself).
