We need a fair amount of taxation to support goverment programs.

Since when is roughly 50% "fair"? And since when do we need "government programs" to take our money and invest it for our retirement, poorly, I might add? Supposedly I'm going to get only 40%(or less) of what I pay the government for SS back, so why do I have to donate 60% my SS money to "the government?"

Hey, if you don't want to pay your fair share of taxes then go right ahead. I can pick up the slack for you.

Seriously, you missed my point. We have so many goverment programs that we need a high level of taxation to support them or cut them. The choice is clear.

You know whats funny? Even on a liberal supporting network affiliate(NBC), on their MSNBC site, a live webpoll gives BUSH the win at 58%, Kerry 41% and Nadar 1% if the election were held this week.

At the rate I save my money when I work (though I am not working ATM,) I could easily have a million dollars by the time I retire (not joking.) If the government were to tax that away from me because they think that somehow I didn't earn it, I'd be pretty damned pissed. I could give a rats ass if I get social security, its worthless to me. IRA's are where the good stuff is.

We need less government programs.

And if they need more money, let the government get it the same way that they expect the rest of us to... by EARNING it.

It's easy to create and fund all these programs when you are using someone else's money to do it.

I wonder how the amish do it? Supposedly they pay the social security taxes but they never want to claim any benefits nor receive any money from it, and supposedly they have it pretty easy when they hit the age of retirement.

Firstly the need to stop borrowing from the SS fund to begin with.
