View Full Version : SLI // 754 Socket
I just saw that link..may or may not be true, but if it is true, this would save me alot of money. The only question that remains is, will SLI be seariously cpu capped by going for the 754 rather than the FX...what are your thoughts? Right now i am on a AMD64 3200 (2.2), my first plan for going SLI was FX53/Ultra SLI (or GT if SLI can handle o/c)..but now all i need is the new motherboard for 754/2xultra sli..and all i have to do is sell the AGP GT..not my entire PC :O

SLI on a S754 board would be completely pointless because IIRC, the 3700+ is the highest speed CPU to be supported on that platform.

imo the only reason they are offering 754 nforce 4 boards is for sempron folks. Have they stated specifically that there will be a 754 SLI variant? I wouldn't be suprised if the SLI version is positioned as a high performance/premium 939 only part while the regular and deluxe boards were either 754 or 939.
meh we just have to wait and see, i am sure we will see some reviews, i sure cant wait to see some sli action lol
*Pardon my ignorance*
Are you saying that SLI cards won't work with 754 socket?

nobody knows for sure yet... We know there will be nforce 4 socket 754 boards but we don't know which versions will be 754. I guess it all depends on whether the mobo manufacturers see a market for it. I think most people with the $$$ to drop on SLI are going to be on 939 though...
Socket 754 will become the mainstream/value platform for AMD processors for the next two years so I have my doubts we see an expensive solution like SLI being available for this market segment.
I read (from the Inquirer  ) that there will be sli motherboards for folks with 754 cpus. If you think about theres lots of 754 cpus out there which mean motherboard companies can make a profit.

^^^ do you have a link?

yeah I read that one but it doesn't specify that there will be 754 SLI boards, just that there will be 754 nforce 4 boards...
Also notice how that article says nforce 4 will have sound storm, then in another article they say nforce 4 won't have sound storm. Gotta love the inq! :retard:

I think if the public wants it some company will make a sli mother board and it not pointless most of the newcastle cores will over clock quiet a bit and the dual memory does'nt show that big of a benifit at least on the boards out to day.
Yeah there is alot of users on the 754..and i dont think just using 754 for sli would make a massive perfermance hit on SLI..i would expect maybe 10-15 fps..., i sure as hell dont wanna go for 939 if i dont have to, but i will if thats the only way to get SLI
