Arg, why'd they have to release it exactly a WEEK after Halo 2? The game has been delayed for over a year, and it happens to come out within a WEEK of another major FPS game I've been looking forward to for a long time? Well, now I don't know what I'll be doing in November...looks like I'll be juggling between the two games. Still, at least we know when it will come out now, and now I can finally use that "free game" voucher I got for my birthday from my parents :) .

Gamers have been able to purchase (via pre-order) Half-Life 2 through developer Valve's Steam downloading service since last week. For those consumers, however, the game will not be playable until the 16th.

Hopefully it will become available at midnight of the night before. Best buy will probably have a midnight sale at "select locations" but steam-loaders can start playing instantly. I hope Steam is up to the task.
