As reported by xbitlabs it looks like no nv30 this year but going for Q12003.I guess we'll have to see an official statement at Comdex but if this is confirmed my xmas gift will be a radeon9700.
I've been waiting for nv30 for 3-4 months now and I don't plan on waiting until the next millenium.

xbitlabs re just stating what other websites stated already days ago.
The source is Nvidia's conference call where the CEO said "mass production shipments of NV30 in our january quater".
This of course could mean Q1 03 or Q4 02.
Nvidia's fiscal january quater is Q4 2002.

The CEO said he's looking forward to the next conference call, which will be for the months of November-January inclusive. Then you have to factor in the card manufacturer's time to market.

So you'll probably be able to get your hands on an NV30-based card before the end of the year if you're willing to pay a huge premium, but if you don't want to get gouged, plan on a late January/early February purchase.

That also seems like a good time for ATi to offer up a DDR-II derivative of the 9700. They can use the holiday to deplete current inventory, and then have a new offering if the NV30 knocks some wind out of their sails.
